History: Founded in 1935, the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara became one of Mexico’s most recognizable private universities and built a proud athletic tradition in Jalisco. Its athletic teams adopted the name Tecolotes, or owls — an identity which decades later became best known through the university’s football club, but the crest itself remains tied to the spirit of UAG athletics: a distinctive mark of a school founded during a transformative era in Mexican education and sport.
